The Bucket List

Hiya
Hey you people seen this movie called "The Bucket List"...Its Astounding ( i mean i havent completed it yet) But as far i've sen it i Loved it...i think you'll find a good synopsis of it on IMDb..I didnt read it yet, coz i wanna finish the movie without any spoilers.Hey but the reason why i've started off with this post is the Fundamental Idea of the movie...Bucket List. Okay for those who dont know..The bucket list is a list of 'things you want to do 'before you kick the bucket(i.e before you're gone)...Isn't that one of the most interesting list to make.... We always make lists,checklists....Lists containing some important things to be done or taken .Remember making those check lists where you thoughtlessly striked off, each of those words ....certificates,CV,reference numbers, contacts, tablets etc.??..And even after all that striking-business,you recheck your items several times not even trusting your striked out markings in your check list...And yes, leaving behind any of these will mean you losing something...which either means you get back for it or look for alternatives..Ulitmately just a mandatory thing to be done.
But here Finally You get to write a List ...where striking something means "accomplishment", a feeling of contentment and happiness of getting at something you've wanted to... Its not a list stating goals like Pursuing a degree or getting married or becoming a prof....I mean maybe those can count but ,they are meant to happen in our lives...some of them out of compulsion, some by fate and very few out of choice. But the Bucket list is Completely out of your CHOICE....Just the Things you want to do, as and when you want to do them... Just for example : Skydiving....Car racing....Mountaineering etc etc....Things that can Give you the contentment of having lived life to the FULLEST OF YOUR CHOICE....Yes the bucket list differs for each one of us...For example :I want to pick up my Wilson's Tennis racket once again..and give a perfect Serve...(Its been 6 years)...So i just want to give it one more shot...Its on my
List :)...Give another Violin Concert...... Disneyland.....Go to the sets of a Hollywood movie..Esp some movie with a terrific location like those seen in 'Lord of the Rings'(ok cut the VFX)..Rite, now thats enough of my list.....It doesnt matter to anyone but me....Thats the second best part....This list has nothing to do with no one...unless someone is on the list...You get what i mean ;)
Hey and you know what... its a better feeling when you have a companion alongside you in this....Its like an Exploration ...Also having a companion (in case of bucket list) can expose you to some more better experiences....I know its hard to find one of your kind...But you'll have a Bigger Bucket to empty. So go on make yours...
Hey i'll complete my opinions on the Movie next month...(i'll post them in the comment section).
If you're interested in the Screenplay check it out : http://www.joblo.com/scripts/bucket_list.pdf ....If u enjoy reading to a visual treat....go on read it.I also think the book has come out!!! So here's the end where all I say is : Carpe Diem :)

  2. hi
first comment as usual (technically nemo's doesnt count)
the bucket list is an awesome movie, great concept, wonderful cast (jack nicholson and morgan freeman are two of the best "older" actors, i mean freeman was a convincing God).
being a person who alternates between the two extremes of moods (some days i am hyper and otherwise i am depressed), i have already made out my bucket list (dunno what moods have got to do with this) and it happens to read eerily similar to nemo's. visit disneyland (the one in florida), try skydiving, backpack across europe (30 euro a day), cruise the pacific nothwest, luau in hawaii, see machu pichu, party in ibiza, and DEFINITELY visit the sets of lotr (and by the way, the world's first and highest bungee is very close by), watch the sunset from a beach in guadlajara (mexico), drive from chicago to la on route 66 (ok, i'm a travel person, but isnt exploring an essential part of the human spirit that we endeavour to check and curb, marking it unimportant, in favour of being a part of the rat race?), sometimes you feel the bucket just aint big enough.
btw there is a song by john mayer called say, which is a part of the movie's soundtrack. do check it out. :)
and as russel and norwick point out in their book on ai, the decision of whether a reckless life of highs and lows is better than a mundane, humdrum existence is best left as a matter of perspective, but i would always choose the former. to me there is no substitute for waking up in a new place and greeting a new sunrise with a steaming mug of coffee(thats mandatory).
    mae vinyare govanne
    cheers

  3. Wow sharon....thanks....Interesting Bucket list....U missed out on meeting certain people ...remember Aragon(if thats the spelling) etc etc...ya i know the list:)Seems like around the world in 80 days....Excuse Me i forgot one thing MONEY?!?!?! Remember...where do i throw in all that cash from ...i'm not Edward....;) Yah the two were gr8 in the movie...Finally i think jack nicolson acts...he was too good...Remember the part where Tommy says "i'd like to say that i have the most generous employer and i llove my job but then i too would be lying ....ROFL"Actually the preceeding line of Edward's rocks i cant rememebr though...
Now to the final point ... After talking to a couple of genius(s) i've dereived one conclusion..
COFFEE is the Drink of A GENIUS....Isnt it??I know now;)
