Violin Redeemed!!!

The Redeem in my Title means "Get Back/Repossess"....Yeah i got back to playing the violin after 4 long years......Today!!

Back Then, A Clear Decision to Choose "Guitar" from the numerous Choices on a Given list....Just when i was about to Tick off the words"Guitar" i heard this fantastic euphony from one of the Practise rooms. Those were just a few notes but was longer than what a lamen would expect...(Put aside the length).its the melody those lines brought out that really impressed me.So"Violin it shall be "
Yeah the beginning was a little 'out of line' coz i was a left-hander and i refused to hold the bow with my right hand assuming that it would make me a right-handed player.....But then i soon realised that the finger placement and control over the strings was the harder part...And i also had no intention of making terrible music...So then i put aside all the grumbles and took to playing like any right-handed player , choosing to keep in mind that I had to bring out "the music " out of those strings that were screeching at that moment...
My tutor was a very talented musician, one who could play excellent be it guitar/piano/violin/ piccolo/bass...A very sincere and dedicated tutor .But hardly anything optimistic came out from him.He was open to criticisms and disapproval.. But you know what it still didnt get on my nerves. Thanks to my senses i understood he was too dedicated and close to music who wouldnt tolerate blunder on any kinds of strings or key, and anyways i just happened to play some better music as days went by....
In six months time i could play most tunes in C,G major from my violin tutor book. And then i was selected to play in the CONCERT...i practised like hell ,because i had a major part and because i was least trained. Most others were senior graders..During this point of my practise i learnt how to write my own notes and composed my own little tunes or tried to play some of my favorite music on te violin(that was hard and i could barelay go half way)..I just couldnt put my violin down. Once again during rehearsals things got a little rough....So i nearly practised for 8 hours.. directly from school to my violin classes n then back home for dinner. My people thought i got crazy...Yeah maybe, just coz of an analyzation that i couldnt mess up a Concert with 15 other professional players playing 6 different instruments , the music lasting for 17 minutes overall (mine lasting for 9.5 min ),all conducted by one musician my Tutor :). Yes The Concert went great....Our's was the best piece of music that day and my tutor "the MUSICAIN" got standing Ovation ...Yay...And after all this ,By the cliche ways, i didnt expect him to tell me anything at all but you now what he told me ..."Next concert wear a Blue Blazer"...Goshhhhh....i was so freaked out......Huh...Never mind.... Yeah it was december vacations so then "Vacation it shall be ". When i returned back ,i restarted my classes after a month..Just to know that my tutor had left to India for good. And as i got copies of my Concert photo, overleaf it was written "Good Concert,Play it from your heart and You can do better than this one. Best Wishes".......
But without him the motivation wasnt holding on. My new tutor wanted me to keep practising old tunes and So my classes didnt go on for long....
Last night I watched this movie "August Rush" ...It has some excellent music..Though most of it was guitar and viola..The finale Rhapsody Inspired me ...There!! some music sprung back into me after all these years...
So today i picked up my violin case from the store room...A decent black cask ,greyed by dust..and All this while my violin had been staying in its case, untouched and uncared.I just stared at my violin for a while not knowing how to restart...I just couldnt remember anything . ...And then i saw all those engraved markings of "finger placement points"..I remember that when my tutor made those marks with a pen....i was in a trauma that he ruined my new violin piece. But then today i knew why it was made then.... :) :)so i tried catching some lessons online...No i havent played a tune yet... The Screeching of my strings have Just Begun. I Hope to make Music Again :)........."Music is all around us ; all you have to do is ,Listen!"

hard work and dedication can get us anywhere.
and if we are ever something in life, its because of that special teacher who gives us the first push, that rush of inspiration and a sudden realization that we have found our purpose in life.

  5. A nice post. I am able to relate this(your past experience) with my sisters position. She plays keyboard. And, she just does the same things before a concert ! And, now she is just keeping in touch - not concentrating more on it(that too because of a new teacher, who is asking her to practise old songs). And, awaiting Upas-Pournima's melodies !

And.. why Nemo ???? "Nemo" is a fish. And, we already have a "fish" in our class.
Oh ! You are the "fish" of IIIrd CSE huh ? ;)
    Anyway...
    :) :D :P
    Cheers,
    Nachi

  6. Cant blame you sister. To have progressed all the way to here and then going back to repeat the same things POINTLESSLY,just coz its someone else's headache is terrible
okay nice to know that u ppl are interested in our melody..sometime sure...
Nemo is a part of my email id if u have ever noticed..The fish in your class is DIFFERENT. The emphasis here is on "nemo" and not on the "fish-part"of it :P

  7. @nachi
nemo, in popular culture is a fish
the inspiration for naming the fish "nemo", came form jules verne's 20000 leagues around the sea and mysterious island, where Capt. Nemo (whose real name is HRH Prince Dakar) was the commander of the submarine Nautilus.
dunno where Verne got the inspiration for the name.
Pournima is nemo cos her email id spells her name that way and upas shortened it :)
    cheers
