Don't be Serious,Be Sincere

Heya,

Yeah the post is all about the Topic/Title...I read this wonderful article two days back and it happened to be(will always be) one of the Best Speeches i've ever read . Throwing out a pool of inspiration and giving out a very valuable lesson "Dont be Serious, Be Sincere" I ofcourse cant put it out, in such a good way but here's my try. i'll just go a little deeper into the higlighted lines.

As i was reading through the article ,the following lines struck me "Don't take life too seriously.Dont be serious but be Sincere". and almost instantly they seemed like a punch lines to me .Now a punch line usually lingers in my mind for more than the time i try to keep it in(u get what i mean) . So then Interrupt occurs."wait a minute aren't they(sincere and serious) almost the same.So what is that line supposed to mean." So i open my Oxford talking Dictionary....It happened to be the old edition and it had very simple explaination and what an irony to find the word "serious as a thesaurus of sincere...This is one thing i Hate about English...Some words are just added on to the list for no reason...For example Destiny Vs Fate .Both the words are found on each others thesaurus list ..So then why have two words??...God Alone Knows ;)..Anyways coming back ....

Nope no way a writer can make a mistake while adressing some of the best professionals...So next step, open the drawer, pick up the huge blue book turn to page....oops..ok this is not Harry Potter ...ok turn to "s".....and then i figure it out ...Serious in context with the text means"thinking about things in a careful and sensible way, being stern and grave, always preoccupied etc.. and Sincere- genuine ,showing only what you really feel or think, heartfelt, earnest etc ..Looking more than twice at both the pages and then finally understanding the meaning of what is intended to be conveyed..A beautifully tailored sentence, that conveys more than what it may seem....This is one thing i like about english, adding more sense to a phrase or sentence than what they may normally seem to mean . So the meaning intended was to live life to the fullest of you sincere ability...To do the things you actually wanted with a passion . I also derieved that Living life seriously might just get you more frustrated and agressive and ultimately diappointed..Because not all things go the way we plan/want...But rather working at what we want, sincerly will give us the contentment of looking and working beyond all odds ,to know what it feels like,to be what we want to be. Success does not add to this...it just comes along...I analyzed one big difference between the two attitudes: A serious person will never realise that "failure can teach him a lesson" but a sincere person learns to accept the failure with atmost sincerity and determination to succeed with the lesson he learned. Now Thats the major difference...This is another beautiful quote I read in the GRAFFITI column of the Hindu supplementary sheets "When you do not succeed at first, Try a little more ARDOUR"...terrific quote...I hope you people know that our life atmost lasts only for 3840 weekends(that is if we live 80 years) and out of that a quarter has nearly run out...So that means we have around 2880 weekends left...So Chillax and Dont live life seriously..nothing's worth so much of your seriousness.... :)

Adieu for now

  1. nice. very interesting
a bit of homespun philosophy here, but you capture the subtle difference between two similar words, often used interchangeably and convey that they actually portray tow very different takes on life.
being too serious tends to make one uptight right?
after all, paraphrasing roosevelt, the best prize life offers is the chance to work hard for stuff worth doing :)
ps as for fate and destiny, they are also different things, fate means you have no control over life, destiny says the what is decided, the how and when is up to you, and i really prefer the latter :)

  8. This might be a late comment. But, I just read the post. A good one. I liked this quote : "When you do not succeed at first, Try a little more ARDOUR" the most in your blog. And, its very nice on your part - bringing out Hindu Papers quotes in your post at relevant places.

Good work ! Keep it up, Nemo(?) !
